Here are some associated parts that I find particularly good.
- Silent Source Signature Power Cords. Neutral tonal balance, good dynamics, a dead-quiet background with great depth and width, and excellent detail retrieval without brightness. This latter is very difficult to achieve since detail/resolution and brightness normally seem to go hand-in-hand. Excellent construction. I don't provide these cords, I use them.
- HiFi Tuning Fuses. Finally, something better than the fifty-cent fuses I've had to use for over twenty years. These are German made ceramic body fuses with silver fuse elements and gold ends. Available in US-standard 1/4'' X 1-1/4'' sizes, as well as the-rest-of-the-world 5x20mm sizes. I love them, and offer them in select upgrades. Regular fuses sound like cardboard: artificial, flat, and coarse. In comparison, these fuses are "realer" sounding, less electronic, less artificial. Music through these fuses is more liquid, smoother, and very dimensional. The coherence is high, by which I mean less of a tweeter+woofer sound, and more like a good single-driver full-range speaker. Like all the good parts (naked Vishay resistors, Silent Source power cords, Dynamicaps, and other bits that I've been able to identify), they provide more detail and dimensionality without shifting the tonal balance toward brightness. I don't sell these parts, I use them in select upgrades.
- Van den Hul The CC-18 Carbon Wire. This single-conductor non-shielded (hookup) wire consists of 12,000 individually insulated carbon fibers in a black colored jacket. It looks like the end of a nail polish brush when it's stripped. It's a total nuisance to work with (have you ever tried to solder to carbon? You can't. Metal clips are first crimped on to the conductors, and those are what you solder to) but the results are worth it. This wire provides excellent resolution and detail retrieval without a whit of brightening or any tonal shift whatsoever. Leading edges, like drumstick taps against cymbals, bells, woodblocks, and other percussive transients are more detailed, quicker, and seem to be more energetic. Great stuff. I don't sell this wire, I use it as signal wire inside select upgrades.
I don't sell any of these parts, I either use them in my system or provide them in select upgrades. There are guys that make a living selling parts, I'm not one of them. If you want to buy these parts, contact their distributors.
