As
Counterpoint's designer, I can repair, update, align and check the
performance of almost all Counterpoint equipment and will be pleased to
service your components. All repairs are covered by a limited one-year warranty.
Repairs start at $290 + return shipping. Parts and labor are additional, starting at $170 for very basic repairs (assuming nothing horrible is found such as failed transformers, overheated and leaking capacitors, or burned circuit boards). But some products are much harder to take apart for even simple repair work than others, so when you contact me I will provide the estimated parts and labor repair fee. We will inspect the unit when we get into it, and if I determine that I guessed wrong about how extensive the work is, I will contact you to get your approval if it looks like we will exceed the estimate. More difficult repairs are billed at $75 per hour plus parts. Of course, you might know someone nearer to you who repairs audio gear, but I designed these products and my engineer has been working on Counterpoint equipment for over 15 years -- you won't need to pay for us to learn how your unit works. If you want to get it repaired locally, you will need a Service Manual. If
you elect to have upgrades performed on your unit, I may be able to
waive some or all of the repair fee depending on how much upgrading you
want: We're working on the unit anyway and it is possible that we'll be
rebuilding or modifying the section that failed. Shipping address:
If you want to hand-deliver your unit, please call ahead to make sure someone will be here. We do our work in a workshop space attached to my house, and I can't guarantee that there will be anyone here if you drop by without warning -- it's me you want to see, not my family. Generally speaking, we can accept visits between 9 am to 4 pm (closed from noon to 1pm for lunch)on weekdays. Special arrangements for evenings and weekends can be made. Please be on time. Dropping by without an appointment, or when we are not open, is discouraged.
Office hours are 9 am to 5 pm Pacific Time (1830 to 0100 UTC), Monday through
Friday, shop hours are as above. The
following folks are offering their services to repair Counterpoint
equipment. I don't know how good a job they can do, or how much they
will charge for the work. But you might find that for simple problems
it will make a lot more sense to have someone nearby take a look at
your unit rather than have it shipped here. NOTE: They cannot do
upgrades other than the NP100 or the NP220 rebuilds. If
you have experience repairing Counterpoint gear, please contact me and
we can discuss adding your name to the list below.
