Selecting the Correct MC Stepup Cartridge Jensen MC stepup transformers are designed to interface low impedance moving coil phono cartridges directly to standard 47k Ohm RIAA phono preamp inputs. There are two standard models to select from. Which model you choose will depend on the type of phono cartridge you are using: IF your cartridge has output voltage of at least 130uV, and has an internal
impedance of 5 Ohms or less OR IF Your cartridge has an output voltage of at least 500uV, and has an internal impedance of 20 to 50 Ohms and/or a recommended load impedance of 430 Ohms or less, then the JT-44K-DX is designed for that cartridge.
