- Smoke/sparks
from Power Supply Chassis
Usually accompanied by blown main fuse on rear of power supply chassis.
Caused by arcing on the circuit board under the rear tube socket. The
high-voltages from the transformer connect here to the rectifier tube.
The blackened circuit board material is sufficiently conductive to cause
continued arcing and burning.
Solution
Remove pc board, remove tube socket and remove all traces of burned
pc board material. This usually results in quite a bit of material taken
off. Connect high-voltage leads from transformer directly to tube socket.
- Red
Lamps on Control Board (vertical circuit board directly behind front
panel)
This is normal and not a cause for concern. Red lamps on the main (central)
audio board indicate trouble -- see the Owner's Manual. But the two
red lamps on the control board, LED209 and LED210, indicate normal circuit
functions. I should have made them green to avoid confusion.
